Let's talk about cats!

Our Feline friends always love to look and feel their best. That's why they always spend so much time licking their coat into place. But have you ever wondered why professional cat grooming exists? The Fancy Feline is here to help. There are two main categories for why grooming is important: For you and for your pet. As pet parents, we know how important it is to put our little kitties' needs first, so that's where I'll be starting.
For your kitty:
1. Your cats' personal health:
As your cat's groomer, I will see your kitty quite often, most likely every 4-6 weeks. Groomers are not veterinarians and cannot give medical advice, but if we notice anything abnormal for your kitties' individual skin or coat health, a responsible groomer will always notify you, so that you are able to speak to your vet. Grooming does not replace veterinary care. We are not medical professionals, we are pet hair stylists. As such, we cannot be expected to notice or understand every possible problem your kitty might have, but you will have someone else on your side to make your fancy feline's life better.
2. Cats like to look and feel good:
Even short haired cats can get dirty. However old your cat is, is how many months or years they've spent coating themselves in their own saliva and walking through their litter box. Kitties' coats also naturally produce a lot of oils and oftentimes itchy dandruff. Cats are noticeably happier when they are clean. A bath every 4-6 weeks can work wonders.
3. Cats with hairballs:
Hairballs often come from the hair they ingest while licking themselves. When this is the cause, bathing and deshedding remedy this problem. Making your furry friend feel better.
4. Knots, mats, or (fur) lumps:
Cats' coats make a lot of oil as mentioned in number 2. Sometimes this oil traps shedding hair and causes knots or mats. Tight mats can make it difficult for the cat to move and cause pain if left unaddressed. Depending on the severity of matting and a cat's temperament, they may either need bathed and dematted, or given a lion cut, bathed, and put on a schedule to prevent future matting.
5. Dirty ears, tear staining, and ingrown nails:
All kitties can have gunky ears or overgrown nails. They can't help it, but it doesn't feel good.
Some kitties, most commonly brachycephalic (smash faced) cats have eye gunk that needs cleaned to prevent irritation and infection.
We can take care of all of this.
For you:
1. Shedding and allergies:
The most common cause of allergies to cats is their saliva. When your kitty has a thorough bath, the allergens can be reduced. Because their fur carries the allergens from their saliva, a deshed treatment or haircut can also be very helpful to last you longer between baths.
2. At home maintenance:
A cat on a regular grooming schedule will not need bathed and brushed from home, so you can avoid having your kitty holding grudges with you, and have more time to enjoy your feline companion.
3. Damaged furniture or carpet:
The Fancy Feline offers soft paws application. Soft paws are nail caps that get put on over your kitties' nails to prevent them from scratching. This humane alternative to declawing still allows kitties to retract their nails and walk as normal. As they generally last approximately one month per application, this also allows your Fancy Feline to be festive for current holidays if that is to their liking.
4. Clean smell and great looking kitties!
Your kitty will smell amazing and look better than ever before!
